Cafe Volunteer

Volunteers give a welcome to customers, serve at tables and behind counter, serving hot and cold drinks, using coffee machine, assisting in kitchen as required and cleaning at end of day.

Experience required

Essential - team worker, able to be flexible in tasks and work under pressure, interest in people, able to follow strict hygiene rules and relate to people with differing abilities.
Desirable - interest in food.

Travel details

Our Community Café is in the basement of the church in George St. (next to George Hotel). Bus fares can be provided. Free tea/coffee and lunch. Access by all city centre buses.(11,23,27, tram).

Travel expenses

Paid to those on benefits or otherwise in need, by Head of Café Operations weekly.

Training details

Initial training is "on the job" following a chat with our Head of cafe Operations. Food hygiene training will be offered when courses are available. Training in further skills ( money handling, cooking) may be given.
