Activities and Events Volunteer

We are looking for friendly, sociable people who will be able to help us out with our events and activities on board HMS Unicorn, including our talks, holiday activities, pirate fun days and school groups. You will assist with the organisation and running of these events, as well as contributing ideas for future events and activities.

You will develop excellent communication, organisational and public engagement skills as well as a creative flair. Volunteers will be given relevant training and support by the Volunteering, Engagement and Learning Officer.

The key tasks will include:


• Working with people of all ages, especially children
• Being friendly and helpful to our visitors to give them a great experience at our events
• Assisting the Volunteering, Engagement and Learning Officer in the design and delivery of diverse activities and materials

Support
Training details

Training will be given in orientation around the ship, as well as in what our learning and activities programme involves and how to work with different groups of people. Once a volunteer has gone through the initial training they can sign up to volunteer at specific events and activities for which there will be specific training/meetings beforehand.

Volunteers (aged 16-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
