Play Worker

Playing with kids Reading stories – helping parent/child contact and development- Making snacks

Great opportunity to get experience working with parents and children under 5 to learn about child development and to advance your own personal development and learning by engaging in suitable training courses.

Volunteers have responsibility for helping the fulltime staff to run the term time programme of activities that is planned. There is a good mixture of activities on offer including some help from outside agencies such as Homestart, Adult learning, Art Attack, Music man etc. These can include reading stories, rhyme time, crafts. There is also the opportunity to learn about healthy eating and to prepare lunches and snacks for the group. There are opportunities for both outdoor and indoor play with occasionally visits to other places.

Volunteers are encouraged to do training which will help them with their CV, learn about child development and participate in doing so and to be part of the team.

We aim to run a non-judgemental group where parents and child play, learn and develop together and apart. There are activities for children and for parents and things that they do together.

We provide a free lunch at 12.00 where we all sit down and eat and share together. There are 2 members of staff a Family Support Worker who also does advocacy and an EYE.
