RSPB Shetland Team Member (Shetland Species on the Edge)

Why we want you
We are looking for volunteers who can join some of our key functional teams to
help grow our capacity. This role is all about taking on a few tasks as part of an
existing team that supports the RSPB operation. This can be anything from our
communications team, fundraising, Education, Families and Youth to Ecology
and Volunteering Development. The tasks will vary depending on which team is
looking for support, but this can range from undertaking research, contacting
stakeholders, taking actions from team meetings, providing support for
volunteers or responding to enquiries.
By opening our work to more volunteers in this way, it means we can scale up
what we can achieve and do more for nature.
What you will be doing
This work will vary greatly depending on the specific role, but it may
include some of the following:
Attending team meetings and taking away small tasks.
Undertaking research.
Engaging with stakeholders.
Creating news bulletins.
Responding to volunteer or stakeholder enquiries.
Monitoring and recording work on spreadsheets.
The skills you need
This role will require some key general skills, but please note that we will
offer full training and induction into this particular area of the business.
You may need some experience in the area depending on what it is.
IT skills, creating documents, managing spreadsheets.
Excellent communication skills for engaging with different audiences,
internal and external to the RSPB.
Organisational skills.
What's in it for you
You will be supporting the RSPB in a big way, so if that is your motivation,
you'll find satisfaction in making a genuine contribution to nature
conservation.
You will learn all about how the RSPB works and gain experience working
for an environmental charity.
We like to think we're a friendly and welcoming team, so you'll have the
opportunity to make new friends too.
