Aberdeen's oldest independent arts club, in 1907 NAC (Northern Arts Club) started out by renting premises first at 410 Union Street, moving on to 1 Bon Accord Terrace. In the Christmas of 1919, its members decided to take the bold step of purchasing their own building at 8 Bon Accord Square, enabling them to enjoy a permanent home.
Today NAC runs tutored classes and drop-in sessions for artists, bridge players, etc. Most are open to members and others. Several artist studios are offered for let throughout the building; other rooms are available for both short and longer-term hire. NAC holds periodic open art exhibitions. The Club welcomes creative people of all ages and abilities, aiming to offer its members and users a unique place to meet, relax and enjoy the various activities provided.
