Volunteer Assistant Forest Schools Leader

Are you Instinctively Wild? We are looking for enthusiastic people that have a love for being out in nature and helping others to find joy in it too.

We are looking for adults to assist on Forest School and Eco-therapy programs in the Scottish Borders and Lothians. These take place in the week and at weekends, it is up to you when you would like to volunteer. Typically, we arrive 1-2hrs before clients do, to set up the site and get everything ready for the clients. This includes time for a briefing and a cup of tea. You’ll be shown everything at induction training or on your first session – you’ll not be expected to know anything. During the session you’ll be asked to help a leader run activities (this will be detailed at the briefing and in planning sent out before the session, which you will be included with). At the end we pack up the site and have a debrief as to how the session went and then plan together the next session.
It is important that volunteers can commit to the time before and after the session, the volunteering doesn’t just take place when the clients are on site.

Experience required

None, as full training given on how to do key activities/tasks. Everything can be learnt on the sessions. The main thing we look for though is an aptitude and a love of nature, a desire to be out in nature in all weathers.

Travel details

Galashiels and Peebles.

Travel expenses

Mileage paid at .45p a mile, or bus/train fairs covered.
