Activity Buddy/Befriender Angus

Could you make a difference to a child's life?

Aberlour Befriending in Angus provides a befriending service to young people who may be experiencing a range of difficulties in their lives. The aim is to enhance the young person’s life by supporting and promoting their welfare, personal development and capacity for self-determination. We also aim to provide volunteers with opportunities for self-development and personal satisfaction.

What will I be doing?


• Making a difference in a child or young person’s life by spending time with them
• Sharing an activity/hobby
• Supporting them whilst they take part in an activity/hobby
• Supporting them when difficulties arise
• Completing a diary after each visit
• Attending regular support sessions
• Contributing to service assessments through support.


What skills can I bring to this role?


• A genuine interest in the well-being of children and young people
• A few hours to spare each week
• Reliability and discretion
• Friendly and approachable
• Non-judgemental attitude
• Good communication and listening skills
• Responsible and dependable


When will I be needed?


• You will spend a few hours each week/fortnight with a child or young person
• As our children / young people will be at school, outings will generally take place in the evenings or at weekends
• A minimum of 6 months commitment is required for this role.

Additional Information


Due to Health and Safety requirements you must be at least 18 years of age to undertake this volunteering role.


For all roles involving regulated work with children and/or protected adults, Aberlour will require the applicant to submit a PVG Scheme Record or a PVG Scheme Record Update application. This opportunity is subject to the completion of satisfactory references and successful registration on the PVG Scheme.
