Exhibition Engagement Volunteer

OnFife is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help create a warm and welcoming environment for visitors. If you love engaging with people, talking about fascinating exhibits, and gathering valuable feedback, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

The Paton Exhibition will run from 14 September 2024 to 9 February 2025, and volunteers can get involved with:


  • Welcoming visitors

  • Engaging with guests

  • Answering questions

  • Gathering feedback

  • Providing information

  • Guiding visitors to other activities, events and services at OnFife
    As a volunteer, you can deepen your knowledge of Fife’s diverse culture and heritage. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills, gaining experience in communication and cultural engagement; meet new people with interests in arts, heritage and culture; enhance your confidence through meaningful interactions; and make a difference by inspiring visitors.


Experience required

Volunteers should be friendly and outgoing, enjoying interacting with visitors and making them feel welcome. You should have an interest in arts, heritage and culture, and should be confident in engaging with visitors, starting conversations and asking visitors to complete evaluation surveys.

Travel details

Dunfermline Carnegie Library and Galleries. OnFife can help volunteers to make travel arrangements such as providing directions, parking and public transport information.

Travel expenses

They cover public transport costs. Mileage is calculated at 45p per mile for cars 25p per mile for motorcycles and 5p per passenger per mile.

Training details

When you join our volunteer team, they ensure you’re fully prepared and supported every step of the way:


  • Welcoming Induction: Meet their friendly staff, enjoy a tour of the venue and facilities.

  • Ongoing Support: Your volunteer supervisor and their dedicated venue staff will be there to support and guide you throughout your time with them.

  • Engage with Curators: Interact with their knowledgeable curators and learn more about the exhibitions.
