Volunteers help to reduce loneliness and enhance wellbeing for the tenants of Hawthorn Gardens extra-care housing development in Loanhead. Volunteer visitors provide a friendly visit on a one-to-one basis. A visit could involve chatting, sharing a hobby or interest together or, where appropriate, taking a walk in the local area. With each visit they make, volunteers can expect to feel the immediate impact of donating their time as they help to enhance wellbeing for local people in Midlothian. Lothian Buses 37 stops on the main road outside Hawthorn Gardens. Lothian Buses 47 and Borders Buses X62 stop a 10 minute walk away.
Travel expenses
Out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with the NHS Lothian Volunteer Expenses Policy

Availability
Frequency & commitment
1-2 hours per week for at least six moths
Volunteers (aged 16-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
