Garden and Grounds Volunteer

Forth Valley Sensory Centre is a place where people with a visual or hearing loss, their friends, families, carers and the wider community can access quality services and advice from our partner organisations. The Centre is inclusive, accessible, and aims to promote the involvement of the wider community and build positive relationships across the Forth Valley area.

We have a beautiful sensory garden which is open to the public and another separate kitchen garden for staff and volunteers to plant and maintain raised beds. We have recently started a wildflower garden and orchard which we are extremely excited to see take shape.

We do need more regular support for our general garden maintenance, such as with:

  • Weeding, planting, leaf picking, and watering as required

  • Growing fresh produce to use in our café

  • Helping with landscaping

  • Becoming involved with larger community green projects with external and partner organisations

  • Ensuring that garden waste is recycled using our on-site composter

  • Ensuring that compost generated is used efficiently

  • Keeping the greenhouse, tool-shed, and pathways tidy for all users

  • Encouraging our Centre Users and local community to become involved in improving their green spaces

  • Get involved with group activities with a wide range of people

Travel expenses will be covered at 40p per mile or public transport tickets. No prior experience is required. Hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday, and you can stay for as long or as little as you like. There's no time obligation.
