Event Volunteers

This is your opportunity to become involved in the early stages of an innovative new sporting and musical event in Galashiels, which will take place for the fourth time, this year.

Showcasing rugby at every level from primary school age through to under-14s, under-16s, under18s, senior and ladies sections, the ‘Maroon’d at Gala’ event will bring together players from across Central and Southern Scotland.

Taking place alongside tug of war and running events and culminating in the final of the famous Gala 7s, it will be an inclusive celebration of sport.


In addition to the sporting events there will be live music throughout the day.
T here will also be street food with a selection of cuisines to suit most tastes.


Role Description:


Prior to the event assistance will be needed with setting up signage and general on site preparations for the event. Thursday 15th and Friday 16th August.


A young schools tournament (S1 and S2) will be held on Friday night.


On the day general stewarding duties at entrances, car parks and around the site.
Entrances will require the provision and fixing of wrist bands to demonstrate age and the collection of donations. Saturday 17th August.


Car park stewarding will require the positioning and control of all vehicles entering and leaving the designated parking areas. Saturday 17th August.


General stewarding around the site will involve troubleshooting, highlighting any problems and communicating same. Saturday 17th August.


Clearing up takes place on Sunday 18th August – usually just the morning 09.00-12.00.

All volunteers will be required to attend a briefing during the week before the event.

Given the location and wide area volunteers require to be fit and healthy.
