Once trained and after a period of shadowing (roughly six months) and once you have been accepted onto the PVG scheme, you will have your own caseload of people, victims or witnesses of crime who you will provide ongoing emotional support and signposting to on a regular basis. At times the calls can be quite traumatic. You need life expeience, empathy and good listening skills, and the ability to be able to support people who have been a victim of crime. A willingness to learn new skills, e.g., IT skills and enjoy being part of a team.
