Charity Shop Volunteer - East Port, Dunfermline

Our East Port shop is a small and quite unique part of our retail chain. Nestled in the heart of Dunfermline, we sell a carefully selected mix of clothing, accessories, jewellery and bric-a-brac to a loyal customer base, from brand lovers with an eye for style to discerning collectors who enjoy checking out our stock in a friendly setting. In the East Port Retail team, you’ll be a welcoming face on the shop floor as well as a key part of our upstairs stock room operation so there’s lots of variety in this role. ** What activities will I be involved in? **

Welcoming and assisting customers Accepting donations and registering donors for Gift Aid Merchandising and displaying stock Serving customers at the till point Creating new and enticing window displays Sorting, hanging, sizing and steaming clothes Pricing items, under supervision and assisting with stock rotation Making sure all stock meets our high standards Keeping the stock room clean, tidy and well organised

**How much time should I offer? **


You can volunteer Monday to Sunday, in the morning or afternoon. Shifts usually last for 3.5 hours, usually weekly but this can be flexible.


**What ongoing learning/support/guidance will I receive? **


It's important to us that you feel happy, safe and confident in your role. As a CHAS volunteer you will be invited to complete a brief online learning package that is tailored to your role.


We are always developing new opportunities for volunteers to learn and offer a range of options for volunteers including over 25 free accredited online training courses, from counselling skills to customer service, through our partner organisation, Skills Network Scotland.


We offer taster shifts to help you decide if this is the right role for you. If your application is successful following this shift, then we’ll provide a full induction and role specific training. ** What are the potential benefits to me? **

** What are the benefits to the children and families supported by CHAS? **


By selling goods in the shops, you are directly raising the funds that enables us to support children with a life-shortening condition and their family.


**What else should I know? **


You must be aged 14 or over to apply for this role. If you are younger, you may be able to volunteer if a parent accompanies you. Please get in touch for more information. We have a full youth policy in place to ensure young volunteers are well supported when volunteering.


We will pay your out of pocket expenses in line with the CHAS volunteer expenses policy.
