Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) saves and improves lives across Scotland, delivering expert paramedic care at the scene of time-critical emergencies.
Their fundraising volunteers play a vital role in raising awareness and funds for SCAA across Scotland. Can Collectors raised over £70,000 in 2019 alone. Can Collectors volunteer in their chosen area placing new and collecting full cans. It is a very flexible role to suit you with little time required.
ROLE SUMMARY
- Speak with local shops and businesses about the life-saving work SCAA provides and placing a new can if they are happy.
- Keep SCAA updated on locations of cans.
- Monitor your area of cans if they need collected. Some are busier than others.
- Uplift full cans and providing clean, empty cans.
- Count and bank locally (some banks have change counters, but not all).
- Contact the office with details of the funds, they will send a thank you and update you on how much was raised.
- This role is flexible to times that suit you. 2-3 hours every 6-8 weeks.
ABOUT
Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) – saving and improving lives in every corner of Scotland, 365 days a year. Since the service launched in 2013, the charity has responded to over 3,600 time-critical emergencies. As the country’s only charity-funded air ambulance, SCAA relies entirely on public donations to fuel its life-saving flights that bring help and hope to those suffering serious injury or illness. An integral part of Scotland’s frontline emergency response network, SCAA can reach 90% of Scotland’s population within 25 minutes from its bases in Perth and Aberdeen, including remote and rural areas that are difficult to access by road, flying expert paramedic care to the scene and providing speedy onward transfer to specialist hospitals.
Experience required
Friendly and happy to talk with a diverse range of people.
Enjoy being organised and keeping records.
Comfortable with cash handling and banking admin.
Physically able to lift heavy collections.
Willing to represent SCAA in the community and develop local relationships.

Regular Ongoing Training and check-ins from Volunteer Co-Ordinator and Named SCAA Staff.
Potential to meet other local volunteers in the area - depends on availability.
