Being a gallery volunteer is an exciting opportunity to support the temporary exhibitions at Callendar House and share your passion for the arts. Volunteers are invited to help engage our visitors with our exhibitions.
Gallery volunteers will meet and greet visitors to our temporary exhibitions in Callendar House and provide informal tours or information about the artist and their work. The exhibition will provide an opportunity for visitors to see and on occasion purchase work of the highest standard.
As a volunteer you will add that extra spark to our exciting exhibitions programme and be part of a team that will contribute to enhancing our visitors’ experience at Callendar House.
What is involved?
•Interaction with visitors to the temporary exhibition spaces, providing information on the exhibition and the artists involved.
•Supervising work on display.
•Provide and share information about the exhibition, Callendar House and upcoming events/exhibitions.

Experience required
Experience of presenting to/engaging with visitors/customers of all ages and able to adjust communication accordingly.
Ability to gauge visitor interest and engagement with the exhibition in order to balance the levels/depths of communication.
Happy to work within a team of volunteers and communicate with a wider team of staff at Callendar House.
Travel details
The Park Gallery and the 2nd floor galleries, Callendar House, Falkirk
Travel expenses
Travel expenses will be provided up to an amount of £5 per volunteer session.
Support
Training details
Training will be available to develop knowledge of the exhibition and standard practice for engaging with visitors. An introduction to Callendar House will provide health and safety awareness as well as radio etiquette. Communication skills for visitor attractions training will be available to attend.

Minimum age: 18
Availability
Frequency & commitment
Must be able to commit to one 3.5 hour session per week. Callendar House is open every day except Tuesdays. Volunteer rota hours are: 11am -1.30pm 1.30pm - 4.30pm 11am - 4.30pm (Saturday/Sunday)
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
