Baldridgeburn Pantry Assistant

Baldridgeburn Pantry provides food to people in the local area, and they are looking for volunteers to assist in the smooth running of their pantry.

There are a range of volunteering activities to get involved with, including:
Setting up and tidying away the pantry
Sorting and date checking food - ambient, cold and frozen foods
Keeping fridge, freezer and bunkers clean and tidy
Bagging vegetables, deli meat and other stock into smaller bags for customers
Showing and helping customers with fridge and freezer items
Adhere to food hygiene requirements
Sign up customers outlining the pantry agreement with them
Keeping register and taking donation fees
Answering customer questions and queries

If you would like to support your local community, receive training and support, and be given opportunities to develop, join this great team and volunteer in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.


Experience required

Volunteers should have a can-do attitude and be active and able to lift food stock. Food hygiene is necessary but training will be provided.

Travel expenses

All associated out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed. These will be agreed in consultation with the volunteer's link worker.

Transport related costs will be calculated as follows: - - public transport costs up to the current cost of an East of Scotland DayRider Ticket - mileage costs @ 0.45p per mile - up to the current cost of an East of Scotland DayRider ticket.

Support
Training details

Once in post, volunteers will be given induction training, supported into the role and offered training and opportunities when needed or as they arise. Volunteers will be supported by staff and volunteers throughout their role with annual one to one support and supervision annually or as requested.
