Board of Management Trustee

South Ayrshire Community Transport was established in April 2016. Our purpose is to connect people and places, helping to enhance social inclusion across South Ayrshire. SACT operates a fleet of 16 vehicles, ranging from 7-seaters to 16-seater minibuses.
We are seeking to appoint new trustee/s to the Board of Management to support the organisation's development and long term sustainability. Trustees are collectively responsible for ensuring that SACT:
• Complies with its governing documents, charity law, employment law, and all relevant legislation and regulations.
• Pursues its charitable objectives.
• Provides clear strategic direction, including setting policies, goals, and targets, and monitoring performance.
• Safeguards the good name, reputation, and values of SACT.
• Maintains financial stability and ensures effective and efficient administration.
• Oversees the protection, management, and appropriate investment of the organisation’s funds.
• Appoints the Project Manager and monitors their performance as part of the Board of Management.
In addition to statutory responsibilities, Trustees are expected to use their skills, knowledge, and experience to support effective decision-making. This may include:
• Scrutinising Board papers
• Leading or contributing to discussions
• Focusing on key strategic and operational issues

Experience required

SACT are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:
• Commitment to SACT and willingness to devote the necessary time and effort
(The Board meets every eight weeks on Thursday afternoons at 1:00pm. Online attendance is available.)
• Ability to think creatively and contribute to the development of SACT’s strategic vision.
• Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of being a Trustee.
• Good independent judgement and the confidence to speak openly.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a Board.
• Commitment to Nolan’s Seven Principles of Public Life:
Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Accountability, Openness, Honesty, and Leadership.
