Adult Literacies Volunteer

Adult Basic Education supports individuals and small groups of young people and adult learners to develop their literacy, numeracy and ICT skills. Some learners also work towards an SQA qualification up to SCQF Level 4.

This is an opportunity to support adult learners, under the supervision of a Group Tutor, and develop skills and experience in the field of adult literacies. Before volunteering with a group, all volunteers are required to complete a Professional Development Award (PDA) in Supporting Adult Literacies Learners. Volunteers are well supported to achieve the award and will gain practical experience of delivering adult literacies in a group setting. The PDA will be delivered through blended learning – both online and face to face. Following successful completion of the PDA, volunteers will be allocated to an ABE group.
