Warehouse Stock Processing Assistant

Working as part of our Warehouse Team you will be based in our central warehouse
(at Crown St, Ayr) where you will receive, process and sort the wide range of donated
goods given by the general public to our shops. You will identify quality goods suitable
for onward re-sale and will sort these into relevant product categories. Selecting from
these product categories, you will then support the fulfilment of stock requests for
individual shops.
You will need to:
→ Process mixed bags of donated goods and sort these into the different types of
products
→ Assess quality of goods and determine which goods are – suitable for re-sale;
unsuitable for re-sale but suitable for recycling; suitable for disposal only
→ Review all incoming donated goods to identify potential specialist or ‘high value’
items
→ Prepare goods suitable for re-sale to ensure they have a good standard of
cleanliness, labelling and presentation
→ Transfer processed goods to relevant categorised storage racks and bins for onward
distribution
→ Respond to stock requests from individual shops and pick relevant goods to make
up and fulfil the orders
→ Collect and package goods suitable for recycling into batches and prepare for uplift
by recycling agents
→ Ensure donated goods are stored safely and securely within the warehouse in the
correctly designated bays
→ Dispose of un-saleable/damaged stock according to retail policies and guidelines.
Transfer items for disposal into the waste bins at the warehouse ensuring that no
hazards are created from damaged goods
→ Comply with Health & Safety procedures, the Volunteer Policy and any other
relevant policies and retail guidelines

Volunteers (aged 12-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
