Volunteer Group Coordinator

Re-Engage (formerly Contact the Elderly) was set up in 1965, and is committed to older people being heard, valued and engaged. Supported by a network of volunteers, the group organises monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of older people around 70 and over, who live alone, offering a regular and vital friendship link every month.

Coordinators ensure everything runs smoothly each month. They are normally the volunteer drivers too.

Coordinators organise the monthly group outings by liaising with the hosts and the drivers so that everyone is clear about the time, date and place.

Support and advice for coordinators is readily available from National Office, Development Officer or Support Officer.

They ask all group coordinators for two references and the group also undertake a PVG check before starting as a volunteer.

The coordinator role is very important. It is the coordinator’s role to be organised and keep everyone informed, planning the monthly host schedule, assisting with PVG checks and liaising with new volunteers and guests.

Re-Engage hold an annual Group Coordinator meeting.
