As a St. John Scotland Patient Transport driver, you are the friendly face patients see when they’re picked up at home on their way to treatment, or from the hospital once it’s complete. You’re the person who makes life easier, who they can rely on… and have a blether with!

It will be your role to transport renal patients to and from the Renal Unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital (FVRH) in Larbert. This service is completely free to patients. Drivers will need access to their own car and all vehicles and drivers require full insurance.

St John Scotland works in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service and local NHS Trusts to provide patient transport for people attending oncology and renal clinics. All passengers are referred to us by the Scottish Ambulance Service or NHS clinics. Our Patient Transport services are a lifeline for people who rely on us to get to hospital for life-saving treatments.

Experience required

You must be between 25 – 70 years old
• Hold a full driving licence and be a competent driver
• Outgoing and welcoming personality
• Ability to communicate with patients and fellow drivers accordingly
• Great sense of responsibility and commitment
• Good health and reasonable level of fitness

Travel details

You will need access to your own car for transportation of patients across the Central area.

Travel expenses

Volunteer expenses are paid in line with the St John Scotland volunteer Expenses policy and include mileage.
