Health walks are short, safe, local led walks. We aim to set up a network of volunteers to staff a rota covering all major settlements in Moray. Walkers can be referred into the scheme or self refer. Volunteers will have initial training and on-going support, as well as reasonable travel expenses. Volunteers are required to be outgoing and friendly, to encourage and motivate people who may be very sedentary or be otherwise unused to taking much exercise.
Experience required
Outgoing, Friendly, Able to walk 2-3 miles easily.
Travel details
Health Walks occur across Moray so there should be one available locally.
Areas currently set up: Elgin, Keith and Dufftown.
Areas being developed: Tomintoul, Lossie, Forres
Support is offered to develop a walk in other area.
Travel expenses
Travel costs as agreed with the coordinator.
Support
Training details
1 day initial training and 1st Aid training. Coordinator to support as required.
Restrictions
Need to be physically able to lead a group of people for 20 - 40 mins or 0.5 - 2 miles.
