Family Support Volunteer

If you want to gain experience in childcare or disability then this role is the one for you! You will be matched with a child or young person who you will meet with on a regular basis spending 1:1 time with them, having fun whilst doing things and going places that they enjoy. Many parents are isolated and have no family living locally or friends who they can ask to help them out in times of need. Families with child/ren with a disability struggle to have any time away from their caring role.

Experience required

You should have a warm, friendly, adaptable and caring approach. A good listener, open, non-judgemental, reliable, honest with the ability to engage and play with children is also required.

Travel details

We work with families across the whole of Edinburgh. The volunteering activity takes place in the local community.

Travel expenses

We pay all out of pocket expenses for activities, agreed in advance with the co-ordinator. Travel expenses paid.

Support
Training details

Before being matched with a child / young person you must attend our Induction Training (2 sessions of 3 hours)Other training relevant to your role is delivered over the year. All training is being delivered via ZOOM to small groups of 3-4 Volunteers on days / times that suit the group.
