Adult ESOL Tutors Needed!

The Inclusive Homework Club was founded in 2018 to create an educational support hub for people with learning difficulties and from disadvantaged backgrounds in mind. In 2022 we began offering courses for adults, with our ESOL & IT Skills for Integration project for Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

We are looking for volunteers who can serve as Tutors in our Beginners and Elementary level ESOL classes.

You will be working as an assistant underneath a qualified ESOL Lecturer. The Lecturer will arrange all course materials and content. You will be asked to provide support in small groups or one-on-one during the class session. In the event that the Lecturer is unable to attend, you may be asked to lead an informal chat session, enabling participants to work on their English skills even when no formal learning is planned for the day.

It's very important that potential volunteers be willing to dedicate a minimum of 3 months to volunteering as the relationships developed between learners and Tutors are highly impactful for the learner's development.

DAYS: We are looking for someone who can volunteer on Wednesdays.

TIME: We are looking for help between 10am and noon (Beginners) or 12:30 and 2:30pm (Elementary).

LOCATION: All volunteering will take place at Kinning Park Complex, 43 Cornwall St, G41 1BA

START DATE: Once you have indicated your interest, we will reach out to have a brief chat with you. After that we will be happy to arrange a date for a taster session. If that goes well, we will be happy for you to continue as a volunteer.

If you are interested please click the ‘Apply’ button below (available when logged in and registered). You will then be contacted by the Project Coordinator by email or phone. If you have not heard back after 5 working days, the first step is to contact the Project Coordinator, Carly at carly@inclusivehwclub.org.uk. You could also check your junk/spam folder on your emails just in case the response is there. If that doesn’t work out then please feel free to contact Volunteer Glasgow on info@volunteerglasgow.org.
