Board Committee Volunteer

Join the WEA Scotland Board Committee: Bring Adult Learning, Within Reach.

Are you passionate about adult education and community development? Do you believe in the power of learning to transform lives? If yes, the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) Scotland is looking for you!

As a member of the Scotland Board Committee, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding the WEA towards a sustainable future. You’ll ensure that our programmes remain true to our values and principles, and that we continue to meet the evolving needs of Scotland’s communities.


Your Role Will Involve:


Crafting strategies to secure funding and ensure sustainability.
Shaping an inclusive education programme that resonates with the people.
Enhancing WEA’s visibility and engagement across Scotland.
Being the voice of our members, students, and staff in strategic discussions.

Experience required

The range of knowledge and experience that may be of benefit to WEA’s Scotland Board includes (but is not limited to):

· Sector funding in Scotland

· Budget and business planning and development


· Income generation


· Risk management


· Mergers, acquisitions or disposals


· Audit


· Governance and Regulation (including information security and DP)


· Company and/or Charity law


Restrictions

Minimum age: 18

Frequency & commitment
The expected time commitment of a Committee member is estimated at circa 1 day per month

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
