Cystic Fibrosis Support Volunteer

The Butterfly Trust is looking for Support Volunteers for families and individuals affected by Cystic Fibrosis.
This is a fantastic and fulfilling way to make a difference to the life of other people, giving the personal
satisfaction of helping someone, and an opportunity to enhance your own life experience. Their volunteers
are their local representatives who provide social support in their local community for people affected by
Cystic Fibrosis. A Support Volunteer is their first point of contact with clients in their area, responding to
requests for help to acquire home improvements, disability related benefits or just someone to talk to. They
offer a listening ear and help to negotiate systems that include housing, benefits, education, employment
and independent living. Support Volunteers can also be trained to provide advocacy if they wish to be more
challenged, learn new skills or perhaps make good use of those they already have.

Experience required

Desirable qualities required include good verbal and written communications skills, sensitivity, reliability and
an adaptable approach.

The clients will be within a reasonable travelling distance of the support volunteer’s home.
