Wetland Restoration Volunteers

An opportunity to be involved in and learn about, the restoration of a pondscape, a unique wetland area on two historic sites for the benefit of native amphibians.

Volunteers are sought to help restore two wetland areas across the Haining estate and the neighbouring Deer Park site, two historic and very biodiverse sites near Selkirk. You will be guided by a wetland expert from the Farm Environment consultancy to create as optimal a habitat as possible for native amphibians and a host of other native species over these two sites. The work will be physical, with digging the main activity and removal of grasses and silt to deepen the ponds. Our ecologist will also be on hand to answer any nature based questions as you take part in this engaging and hugely important, restoration activity.

This opportunity takes place from 1st to 5th July 2024.
