Join our amazing team of Community Support Volunteers as a Walk Leader! In this role you will provide in-person support to people living with our conditions in the community, at home or in a hospital setting, empowering and enabling them to engage fully with walking activities and gentle exercise where appropriate.
Experience required
No skills or experience are required, and full training will be provided.
This opportunity would suit someone with good listening and communication skills, and the ability to motivate people to reach their potential.
We are looking for someone with the ability to volunteer independently, with guidance and support.
Travel details
Volunteers must be willing to travel within their own area.
Travel expenses
Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed, including travel expenses. These should be discussed with your Line Manager prior to outlay and must be submitted within the prescribed guidelines as detailed in the CHSS Volunteer Expenses Policy.
Support
Training details
CHSS will provide access to a bespoke range of training and development to support you in your role, including: Paths for All Walk Leader Training; Lone Worker Safety E-Learning; Roles and boundaries for Walk Leaders; Safeguarding Adults (L2) E-learning; and CHSS conditions awareness training.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 18
In line with our commitment to safeguarding, this role is subject to membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Adults) Scheme in Scotland (PVG).
Volunteers must be willing to commit to initial and ongoing training.
Availability
Frequency & commitment
Volunteers are required to commit to one hour per week, twice per month, as a minimum. Dates and times are dependent on location.
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
