Greener Kirkcaldy are looking for a bike refurbishment assistant to build and service bikes in their Lang Toun Cycles bike shop on Kirkcaldy High Street. The volunteer role offers support and training and if the volunteer is suitable, they will be offered the opportunity to train as a bike mechanic. The role requires and commitment of one ½ day per week. Volunteers would be offered full support from the bike shop staff.
This opportunity would be a great match for someone who is interested in bike maintenance and working in a bike shop.
Experience required
Organised, able to work systemically and follow all procedures, interest and or experience of mechanics, safe use of tools, physically able, team worker willingness to learn. Desirable cycle mechanic, ability to find someone a suitable bike, social skills, customer service skills

Volunteer can submit public transport receipts.
Support
Training details
In house training will be offered including, first aid, conversations in climate change and if appropriate, bike mechanic training.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 16
Availability
Volunteers (aged 16-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
