Director

As a Board Member of Burnfoot Community Futures, you will provide leadership and strategic direction for Burnfoot Community Futures on behalf of the members, helping to monitor strategic delivery, secure its long-term sustainability and oversee the legal, financial and operational management of Burnfoot Community Futures, ensuring it meets the aims set out in its constitution.

Role Description :
● To contribute actively to the board of trustees' role in giving firm strategic direction to
Burnfoot Community Futures, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets
and evaluating performance against agreed targets
● Representing Burnfoot Community Futures at functions, meetings
● Acting as a spokesperson as appropriate
● To ensure that Burnfoot Community Futures complies with its governing
document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations
● To ensure that Burnfoot Community Futures pursues its objects as defined in its
governing document
● To ensure Burnfoot Community Futures applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of
its objects
● To safeguard the good name and values of Burnfoot Community Futures
● To have the time and inclination to be involved in “hands on” problem solving and where
necessary, project delivery and carrying out representational activities for the Trust
● To ensure the effective and efficient administration of Burnfoot Community Futures
● To ensure the financial stability of Burnfoot Community Futures
● To protect and manage the property of the charity and to ensure the proper investment
of the charity's funds

Experience required

Essential Skills
● Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills
● Logical thinking with creative problem-solving ability
● Great attention to detail
● Good communication, meeting chair and negotiation skills
● Ability to recruit and lead a technical staffing team
● A good understanding of business
● Proactive - anticipates problems and shows initiative for problem-solving and generating new ideas.
● Trustworthy with confidential information, able to deal with confidential information in an appropriate and sensitive way.
● Able to translate technical issues to other Board members in a non-technical manner
● Good IT skills with excellent MS Windows, email, spreadsheet and word processing skills.
