British Sign Language Volunteer

Outline of role (BSL Volunteer)
Provide BSL translation at Bookbug sessions where needed. Currently looking for support for a child attending sessions in Airdrie Library.
Provide BSL translation at author events, talks and activities such as New Tricks.
This would suit someone looking for a front facing community role with a strong social focus. The volunteer would
• Ensure our library services are more inclusive and accessible to the deaf community.
• Attend Bookbug sessions in advance to prep with the Bookbug session leader.
• promote other library events and groups to interested users
• Support library service in delivering a more inclusive offer to the public by providing BSL at events and activities where possible
• Attend weekly Bookbug sessions to support profoundly deaf children accessing and enjoying the sessions to the fullest
• be a Library Champion within the local community.
