Fundraising and Events Volunteer

Why We Need You…
Are you;
• Friendly and outgoing
• Good with people and an excellent communicator
• Interested in supporting events
• Flexible and adaptable
• Wanting to volunteer and learn something new?
We are a national voluntary organisation whose mission is to campaign for the human rights of people living with dementia and their carers. Our vision is to ensure that nobody faces dementia alone. Our Fundraising & Events volunteers support us to help raise funds that we use to enhance the lives of people living with dementia across Scotland.
If you are aged 16 and over and have some time to offer, Alzheimer Scotland wants to hear from you!
What the role involves
This role will help by participating or supporting activities such as fundraising collections, motivating participants as part of a cheer squad, researching possible opportunities for our charity and/or raising awareness about our work by manning stands at memory walks and other planned events. These roles may at times require lone working. The role varies and includes some or all of the following tasks;
• Engaging with members of the public at our planned events
• Cheering on event participants
• Being an inspirational and motivational voice for our supporters and an ambassador for our charity
• Attending cheque presentations and talks
• Participation in event set up, coordination and de-rigging where required
• Placement and management of collecting cans in your local area
• Assisting with cash collections and the coordination of monies raised at events and activities
• Assisting with licensing and liaising with proprietors for collection dates
• Assisting fundraising staff in identifying possible opportunities for our charity and displaying posters and leaflets in your local area
• Following cash handling and receipt of donated income guidance and procedures where appropriate
• Keeping up to date with Alzheimer Scotland news and our work across Scotland.
