Awareness Raising Champion

Could you help promote the vital and life-changing services we offer to hundreds of survivors of sexual violence across the Borders? Join our volunteers to contribute to our activities and events and support fundraising activities.

We are seeking volunteer Awareness Raising Champions who will support SBRCC in a wide range of activities and events to raise awareness of the work we do in the local community and support fundraising activities. These funds are vital to help us to offer our support services to survivors of sexual violence throughout the Borders.

SBRCC is looking for enthusiastic women who can bring people together to raise awareness of SBRCC and the work we do to support hundreds of survivors every year.


We are looking for local people across the Scottish Borders with lots of creative ideas and energy, and time to contribute to different events. For example:
Would you like to support our larger events, such as 16 Days of Activism and our Reclaim the Night March?
Could you help us organise our upcoming party to celebrate 15 years of supporting women and young people across the Borders?


Other tasks might include:
Distributing promotional materials, posters and flyers across the Scottish Borders.
Attending local networking events.
Requesting raffle prizes and supporting raffle ticket distribution and sales.
Distributing and collecting donation tins.


Skills/Experience Required:
Is it for me?
Do you feel strongly that everyone in our society should be able to live their lives free from harm and abuse?
Are you concerned about the impacts of sexual violence on women and young people?
Would you like to stand alongside us as we work to towards achieving our vision ‘to end violence against women and girls in all its forms’?


What we are looking for:
Interest and commitment to women’s rights and equality.
Willingness to learn about the prevalence of sexual violence in society and commitment to working towards ending this.
An interest in learning more about the issues and impacts relating to sexual violence and support for survivors.
Great people skills, approachable and friendly.
Reliability and good time keeping.
Basic IT and telephone skills.
Some experience of charity fundraising/events is desirable but not essential.
Able to act with integrity and respect when representing the organisation and show a commitment to equality & diversity and anti-discriminatory practice.

Training details

There is an expectation that you attend initial volunteer training and other volunteer meetings throughout the year. We will attempt to schedule this around the availability of successful applicants.
You will report to the Operations Manager and will receive regular one to one support. Other relevant training opportunities will be provided to support you in this role.

Minimum age: 18
• Only women need apply under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010. • If you have accessed our services for support yourself, we ask that you only apply after two years have passed.
