Trustee

Home-Start Dunfermline is a local charity committed to supporting families with children under five. They provide practical and emotional support to help parents give their children the best start in life. Their volunteers visit families at home, offering tailored support.

They are looking to welcome new Trustees who can bring expertise, skills, and passion enabling them to innovate and build a sustainable future. As a Trustee, you will:


  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the charity’s strategic plans.

  • Ensure the charity is operating within its legal and financial requirements.

  • Support and guide the charity's leadership team, offering advice and expertise.

  • Attend regular board meetings and participate in sub-committees as needed.

  • Act as an ambassador for Home-Start Dunfermline within the community.


By joining their Board of Trustees, you will gain valuable governance experience, develop new skills, and be part of a supportive and dynamic team.


Experience required

As a trustee, you should have:


  • A commitment to the mission and values of Home-Start Dunfermline.

  • Experience or interest in charity governance, finance, HR, fundraising, or community engagement.

  • Strong communication and team-working skills.

  • Ability to dedicate time to attend meetings and engage with charity activities.

  • Previous experience as a trustee is beneficial but not essential.


Travel details

Meetings are normally held on Zoom with some face to face meetings in the Homestart Office (41 Bruce Street Dunfermline) or held locally in central Dunfermline.

Travel expenses

Expenses are offered at public transport rates.

Training details

Trustees will be given an induction to the charity and board, and will have ongoing support from the chair and other board members.

Board meetings are held every 8 weeks and sub-committee meetings are held as and when necessary in-between this.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
