Join our amazing team of Community Support Volunteers as a Walk Leader! In this role you will provide in-person support to people living with our conditions in the community, at home or in a hospital setting, empowering and enabling them to engage fully with walking activities and gentle exercise where appropriate.
Experience required
Good listening and communication skills
Reliable, patient & empathic qualities
Ability to motivate people to reach their potential
Encouraging and supportive
Ability to volunteer independently with guidance and support
Respectful of the opinions of others
Understand the need for confidentiality
Able to maintain boundaries
Travel expenses
Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. These should be discussed with your Line Manager prior to outlay and must be submitted within the prescribed guidelines as detailed in the CHSS Volunteer Expenses Policy.
Support
Training details
Full training and regular support and supervision session are provided.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 18
Willingness to travel within own area
Able to commit to initial and ongoing training and development
Ambassador for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland
Availability
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
