Kirkcaldy Old Kirk Trust are responsible for preserving and maintaining Kirkcaldy Old Kirk as a community venue, heritage centre and community music hub. They are looking for volunteers to help maintain and restore the buildings.
As a Building Volunteer you can be involved in tasks such as general maintenance and repair work in sympathy with the requirements of an ancient building. The role involves tasks such as replacing lightbulbs, replacing door handles, minor decorating and maintaining high standards of presentation. The volunteer may carry out repairs in the Old Kirk, the Kirk Hall or Hunter Hall. If you enjoy fixing problems and finding solutions this may be the role for you.
Experience required
Flexible with an interest in or experience of carrying out maintenance work and the ability to follow guidelines and instructions. Ability to work unsupervised.
Travel details
The Old Kirk is situated in Central Kirkcaldy on Kirk Wynd within easy reach of bus and train stations.
Travel expenses
Travel expenses will be paid monthly however individual agreements for payment can be agreed. Public transport rates of 40p per mile apply.
Support
Training details
There is an induction for all volunteers and ongoing training will be provided as required. The induction will cover a brief history of the KOKT and the roles and responsibilities of volunteers, the policies and procedures as they appertain to the volunteers and an introduction to the named person for their role. The procedure for claiming expenses will be explained and a tour of the Kirk/Gardens will be provided.
