Primary School Library Assistant

Primary School Librarian
Do something amazing and volunteer with North Lanarkshire Council. By choosing to join us as a Primary School Librarian, you will be directly improving and enriching the lives of people in your local community. With the right help and support everyone can enjoy a healthier and happier life.
What’s involved?
We would like someone who could commit at least one afternoon per week 1.30-3.00pm (approximately). If the time is not suitable other times may be negotiated.
The person would also be required to work alongside a small group of children and give them direction on how best to help in the process of reorganisation.
The person would also liaise with a member of teaching staff with regards to plans and resources which may be required.
What will you get out of it?
You will be able to use your skills productively to provide a better learning environment for our children. You will enable us as a school to have a functioning library space. You will be able to build skills in relation to working with children in an educational setting.
Qualities and skills required for the role:
You will be an organised, punctual, and reliable person. You will be someone who can work well with children showing patience and concern for their wellbeing. You will be enthusiastic and driven in order to complete the task.
What’s the commitment?
At least 1.5 hours per week during school time.

Training details

You will be given appropriate Child Protection Training before beginning your role and will be informed in fire safety procedures for our establishment.

Volunteers (aged 12-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
