What’s the event about?
Join us in person for this creative event to share your views of what good practice is for capturing data from young people in Scotland. We’re particularly interested in exploring ways that supports Young Scot to champion the issues that are important to young people.
Data is information that organisations collect to understand their users, understand trends, behaviours, and attitudes and make improvements to what they do. This might be anonymous or specific to an individual.
You will have the opportunity to help shape the development of what this should look like going forward, and how other organisations might learn from your ideas! We’ll be asking you questions such as:
- What does the trusted collection and use of data look like?
- How should young people be involved in informing future data practices at Young Scot?
- Your input on the day will help to inform what good practice might look like, how young people and their needs can be at the heart of these conversations and be central in shaping ideas around collecting and using data in a way that is trusted and transparent.
This session will be hosted and facilitated by Data for Children Collaborative, Researcher from The Alan Turing Institute, Edinburgh Futures Institute and Young Scot. It will take place at Inspace in Edinburgh. During the session you’ll get chance to meet new people and have your say in a safe, judgement-free space. Food and refreshments will be provided throughout the event.
You don’t need any experience to apply, however it would be great if you had an interest in data and research! We are particularly interested in working with young people who feel confident in representing any of the communities below, including, but not limited to:
- LGBTQI+
- Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority
- Young Carer
- Gypsy/Traveller
- Care Experience
