Trustee: We are looking for women with relevant professional experience and lived experience of racialization who can bring their expertise to our Board of Trustees.

About Saheliya
Saheliya is a specialist mental health and well-being support organisation working with women (12+ years) experiencing racial inequality in Edinburgh, Glasgow and other parts of Scotland. We provide a range of wrap around services including counselling, complementary therapies, group work, practical support, advocacy, youth work and learning opportunities.

Training Details
Trustees will be given and induction pack and all the tools required to understand the responsibilities of the role. Key staff will be available to support the role and answer any questions about the organisation. Each area of the organisation will be covered by either senior staff or current Trustees. Opportunities for training are regularly explored and offered to Trustees as required.

Location/Travel Details
Meetings are currently held every six weeks. We aim to hold every second meeting at our Edinburgh hub and every second in our Glasgow one. Meetings are usually in the evenings around 5 or 5.30 pm for around 2 hours maximum. Meetings take place both remotely and in person at a time convenient for all trustees. Out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.


Enthusiasm – For supporting women and girls experiencing racial and gender inequality
Commitment – 3-4 hours every 4-6 weeks incl. Board meetings
Teamwork – Good interpersonal and communication skills

We are looking for women with relevant professional experience and lived experience of racialization who can bring their expertise to our Board of Trustees. A background in Campaigning/Public Affairs, Strategy, Funding, Finance, or HR would be beneficial.

Expenses
Trustees are given a claim form template to complete. This should be sent to the Finance manager who will process the claim and reimburse approved expenses by bank transfer.
