Community Events Volunteer

Volunteering details

What you’ll do:


  • Attend community events at bus stations, colleges, and shopping centres to promote bus travel.

  • Engage with the public, both bus users and non-users, and share positive messages about bus services.

  • Assist in setting up event equipment and merchandise, offering free items and running fun activities like the ‘wheel of fortune’.

  • Conduct short surveys with attendees to gather feedback on their bus experiences.

  • Support the Project Manager and Events Coordinator in delivering event goals.

Experience required

Enthusiastic communicator with strong verbal skills.
Committed to Transform Scotland’s values of promoting sustainable travel.
Comfortable working in a team and engaging with diverse groups of people.
Experience with bus or sustainable travel projects is a plus, but not essential.

Travel details

Travel throughout Scotland may be necessary (we will provide trandport-sharing optoins if you are based in Edinburgh). If you live locally in either Glasgow, Inverness, Aberdeen, Fife or Perth - this will be an advantage.

Travel expenses

Travel expenses (public transport if possible). Lunch expenses (if volunteering a full day).

Support
Training details

Online induction and briefing training early November for 2hrs is compulsory. Includes health & safety.
Ongoing training wil be provided at each event - there will always be staff present to support volunteers at each event.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18
The role may require long periods of standing at pop-up events so having the physical capacity to do this will be important. Or being mobile as a wheelchair-user to actively engage with passers by.

Frequency & commitment
Attend events as and when you are able. However we ask you are abkle to commit to at minimum of 4 half day events in Nov and 4 half days in Dec. Dates schedule to be release once application is received.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
