The Angus International Community Café is a locally run community café whose focus is to promote health and wellbeing, good citizenship and community cohesion within Arbroath, specifically those whose first language is not English.
We are looking for volunteers, especially men, who can help facilitate the café and conversations with attendees.
The role of a café volunteer involves:
• Helping to set up the café beforehand, including moving chairs and tables
• Ensuring the tables and surrounding area are clean and tidy at all times
• Welcoming people as they arrive
• Providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for attendees
• Assisting with refreshments, such as teas, coffee, and biscuits
• Chatting to attendees to support and encourage the practicing of English
• Guiding and supporting people during group activities
• Helping to clear away after the session
We’re looking for people with
• A friendly and outgoing personality
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to be part of a team
• A food hygiene qualification would be useful but is not essential
The café runs once a week on a Friday between 12pm and 2pm and is usually closed during school holidays. A minimum commitment of a month is required.
