We are not a charity, We are a local authority early years centre in Kirkintilloch for children aged 0 to 5.
We were awarded a Growing a Good Food Community grant to plant, grow and harvest vegetables for our
children to cook with their parents/carers in nursery. Our aim is to engage our children and parents/carers
in healthy cooking and eating
Experience required
Knowledge of when and what vegetables to plant and harvest. Ability to tend to a garden.

The orchard is based at Friars Croft in Kirkintilloch. It is a space owned by Hillhead Housing Association.

Training details
I will show volunteer(s) where the orchard is and around the nursery, introducing them to staff and children.
I will also take them through our own risk assessment for visiting the orchard with children and the risk
assessment from Hillhead Housing Association (they own the orchard). I will brief them on the grant we
were awarded and what our aims are with our growing project.
Restrictions
Minimum age: 12
Volunteers (aged 12-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
