Knitting Group Organiser (Glasgow)

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP) encourages and supports people aged 50+ to volunteer in their local communities. The RSVP Glasgow Knitting Group has been running for over 10 years, involving dozens of volunteers.

We are looking for new Volunteer Organiser who can help ensure that our knitting group runs smoothly. The group normally meet for 1-2 hours in Glasgow City Centre, between 4 and 6 times per year. These events are coffee mornings where knitting volunteers come together to socialise, compare knitting projects, and receive free wool/materials.

Knitters create a wide range of materials and goods from there own homes, which are donated on to other charities, nursing/care homes or to the NHS, via the coffee morning gatherings.

You will be responsible for ensuring the coffee mornings are friendly and welcoming, are delivered effectively and efficiently and promoting the group locally to attract more volunteers to join. An ability to knit yourself would be useful but not essential. You will receive ongoing help and support from RSVP as well as any travel, or general volunteer expenses.

The volunteering hours are fully flexible and we will be able to work around your availability. If you are passionate about volunteering and would like to help us support other volunteers, we would love to hear from you!
