Mentor

Barnardo’s are committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Their 2,000 Children's Services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join their fantastic children’s services volunteers, who make a real difference to children, young people and their families.

Barnardo’s mentors work with adults on a 1:1 basis, offering practical assistance and emotional support, to build their self-confidence, coping mechanisms and positive relationships. The work could be focused on a particular need, such as gaining employment or accessing training, or it could be more focused around life skills and independent living.

Two’s Company is a brand-new service funded by Clackmannanshire Whole Family Wellbeing Fund to support single parents with mental health issues via a mentoring service. This service will be delivered flexibly over the week to ensure that we are able to respond to the needs of the parent. It is anticipated that you will meet with the parent a minimum of once a week initially to build up the relationship, this level of contact will continue to be reviewed to ensure that the parents voices are heard in terms of planning. The mentoring service will also be supported by Action for Children.

Barnardo's are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making a difference in people’s lives, with a friendly and approachable attitude and an ability to engage young people and adults, empowering them to take steps towards improving their situation and achieving their goals.
