Lothian Breastfeeding Buddies (NCT)

Lothian Breastfeeding Buddies is a breastfeeding peer support project funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by the NCT (National Childbirth Trust). The role of a peer supporter includes undertaking 21 hours of training (in which you will receive a fully funded OCN accreditation), and then volunteering weekly at one of our five community groups or within the hospital setting. Peer supporters need to have a minimum of three months of breastfeeding experience.

In West Lothian we have community groups at the Armadale Resource Centre and Kidz n Kin (Livingston), and we also offer peer support at St John's Hospital.

Active listening. Lived experience of breastfeeding. Willingness to attend 21 hours of training (through Zoom), and fill in workbook for OCN accreditation. Empathetic nature.
