Adult Learning Tutor

Join the Fife Adult Learning Project as a Volunteer!

The Fife Adult Learning Project offers a personalised service to learners and befriendees, each with unique goals and interests. As a volunteer, you can engage in a variety of meaningful activities, while supporting a learner or befriendee one-to-one, including assisting with literacy, numeracy, form-filling, communication, and digital skills, helping learners achieve qualifications, developing learning resources, and contributing to their advertising efforts by recording videos, taking photos, and sharing your story.

Experience required

Lead seek enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join them as Volunteer Tutors. While experience in teaching, mentoring, or tutoring is desirable, it is not essential. They provide comprehensive training and learning opportunities. Ideal volunteers will have:

-Basic literacy and numeracy skills

Travel details

This opportunity happens throughout Fife, can either be in a Learner’s House (a risk assessment will be carried out) or can be in any public used place within Fife such as Library, Community Rooms/Hubs or even Costa/Starbucks/Supermarket Cafés.

Travel expenses

Volunteers re-imbursed monthly but must submit volunteer expense form. Additionally, if volunteers spend their own money to buy resources for the Learner they will be re-imbursed for that. Travel expenses are provided at 45p per mile or public transport rates.

Support
Training details

Volunteers are given a brief induction to role and will be given support with each learner they work with. Initially, the Learning Co-ordinator will work with the Learner before pairing them up with Volunteer. If you feel there’s further training required as a volunteer, that can also be arranged. Additionally, Lead has a range of online learning resources for Volunteers.
