Community Health Volunteer

We need you to help us be the face of prevention in your local area, either out in the community or supporting us in our Health Defence hubs. With you on board we can deliver basic health assessments and continue to spread those vital healthy lifestyle messages to people who can benefit the most. This will help ensure there is No Life Half Lived in Scotland.

What you will be doing: -

• Screening community members to identify those at risk of developing a cardiovascular condition.
• Signposting appropriate individuals to existing CHSS or community-based services.
• Supporting an onward referral process into NHS services for those identified as most at risk of developing our conditions.
• Raising awareness of the benefits of following a healthy lifestyle and encouraging others to take a more active role in their own health.
• Being an ambassador for CHSS talking positively about our prevention work and other services.
• Embrace a non-judgemental, supportive approach to enable community members to gain confidence and achieve their goal(s)
• Complete record of health screening activity, progress and outcomes.
• Regularly connect with our Health Defence Coordinator to support your development in the role, address any potential issues and work with us to enhance your skills and knowledge.
