Are you friendly, compassionate, and reliable, seeking a volunteer role where you can make a real, meaningful difference in people’s lives?
As a Marie Curie Companion, you’ll provide comfort and support to individuals with terminal illnesses and their families.
What You’ll Do:
• Offer companionship, emotional support, and a listening ear.
• Help loved ones by giving them short breaks.
• Drive clients to medical appointments or on short outings.

Experience required
Skills and Experience we’re looking for:
• Passionate and Empathetic with a genuine desire to support others during their end-of-life journey.
• Local Knowledge and/or residency in the Glasgow community.
• Strong communication, active listening skills and the ability to build rapport.
• Basic IT skills for handling documentation and communication.
Travel details
This opportunity is available in various areas, within Dunfermline, Fife
When matching you with someone, we will consider your ability to travel within your local community and your availability. You are not required to volunteer across all areas of Dunfermline.
Travel expenses
Reasonable out of pocket expenses are reimbursed. This includes travel by the use of your own vehicle, or public transport. Expenses are paid monthly directly to the volunteer.

Support
Training details
Excellent, ongoing support and relevant training is provided to all volunteers wishing to apply. We provide one full day training and induction session that covers all of the information relevant to the role.

Minimum age: 18
Frequency & commitment
Availability can be discussed with the Volunteer Manager to suit your schedule
Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
