Lead Companion Volunteer - Fife

Join Us as a Marie Curie Companion – Lead Volunteer

Marie Curie Companions provide one-to-one companionship and support to individuals with terminal illnesses and their families. As a Lead Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting and growing this service within your community.

What You’ll Do:


Raise awareness and recruit new volunteers.
Support and guide volunteers in their roles.
Provide companionship, emotional support, and practical help to clients and carers.
Assist with training, peer support, and volunteer engagement activities.
Liaise with clients, families, and referrers, ensuring the best service delivery.

Experience required

What We’re Looking For:

Strong communication and organizational skills.
Empathy, reliability, and respect for others.
Basic IT skills and willingness to learn.

Travel expenses

Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed, including travel at 45p per mile for personal vehicle use or public transport costs with receipts. Reimbursements are paid monthly directly to the volunteer.

Support
Training details

Excellent support and relevant training is provided to all volunteers wishing to apply. We provide one full day training and induction session that covers all of the information relevant to the role.

Restrictions

Minimum age: 18

Frequency & commitment
3 hours per week. The Volunteer Manager can provide further details on the frequency, as it may be beneficial for you to be available on specific days or times.

Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
