Working with a small team of staff within the museum this role is predominantly front of house. We are looking for someone to help us run activities and events for visitors from toddler age to older adults. We are looking for candidates age 18 +
Locations, Days & Times
This role is based at North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre, Motherwell. The days and hours can be flexible to suit- so you can volunteer once a week or once a month. We’d especially love if you have availability to work occasional Saturdays.
What’s involved?
Working with the learning team to help delivery our event and activity programme. This includes crafts, talks and tours, film screenings, and school workshops. Following guidance from museum staff to help with the set up and run the event and tidy up afterwards. This will include light cleaning and moving of tables and chairs. You’ll engage with participants throughout the event, helping serve tea and coffee, undertaking informal visitor questionnaires, assisting children with crafts, answering basic questions about the museum and its collections.
What will you get out of it?
Volunteers will gain experience of working on the front line in a museum, a chance to work as part of a team, develop customer care skills by working with members of the public.
Qualities and skills required for the role:
We are looking for someone who is friendly, outgoing and likes working with people. Must have initiative and be able to work on their own once trained. No specific skills are required but an interest in museums and or arts would be of benefit. Candidates should be age 18+. PVG check is required for this role.

A full induction and familiarisation will be given at the start along with on going training/ supervision.
